Seinfeld on Howard Stern speculating why Dennis Miller is doing Political talk "He's doing what he wants to do... but I don't like it"

Jerry Seinfeld offers his thoughts on friend Dennis Miller. His thoughts speak more to Jerry's outlook more than anything else.
VIDEO: Jerry Seinfeld on Howard Stern (June 26, 2013)
HOWARD STERN: (31m 35s) You mentioned a few minutes ago Dennis Miller. Dennis, brilliant standup comedian
JERRY SEINFELD: Brilliant, one of my favorites
STERN: But when you see what he's doing now, he's doing a Political show and stuff like that. Because you love standup comedy, do you sit there and think "Why is he doing that? Why is he revealing his hand politically"
SEINFELD: I think I know why he's doing it
STERN: Why is he doing it?
SEINFELD: That's what he wants to do
STERN: Yeah but does it bother you in some way?
SEINFELD: In some way
STERN: Why
SEINFELD: I love comedy
STERN: Right and now you feel he's not being the funny guy, he's sort of being the angry -
SEINFELD: He's free to do that, that's his choice
STERN: That's understood that's his choice but I wanna know how you feel about it?
SEINFELD: I don't like it
STERN: Have you told him that
SEINFELD: No
STERN: But what don't you like about it specifically
SEINFELD: I just miss funny Denny just doing bits. But a lot of those guys Howard they don't want to lift those weights. Its like going into the gym everyday. You know how you walk in everyday and you go "I gotta do his again? A lot of guys don't want to do it. Its brutal... but you're blessing in life is when you find the torture you're comfortable with

Meme prediction: Joe Biden can't control his laughter at the Vice Presidential Debate

For the Vice Presidential debate, the meme has to be Joe Biden dismissing Paul Ryan with uncontrollable laughter. Reminiscent of a wrestler bristling off a challenge from someone he considers no contest.

APF Pundit Dennis Miller conceded Biden's performance might have been considered a win but also off-putting to some
The Dennis Miller Show: Give Biden a 10
BIDEN: I do think he was perfectly emblematic of contemporary liberals... that's how I see them, how I saw Biden last night - protective of their time, covetous of yours. Constantly laughing, grinning or throwing their hands up when you're making your point and expect that you'll sit there and act like you're in cyclical when you're speaking. And usually to pull that off they need a magician's assistant (Debate Moderator Martha Raddatz)...

Compilation of classic Jon Stewart appearances with Dennis Miller

Here is a nice trip through the good ole days courtesy of Live06x's YouTube channel. Dennis Miller is a seasoned comedy veteran who famously became more partisan after 9/11. In this classic collection of interviews with friend Jon Stewart, Dennis Miller is quite apolitical.

You can find a collection of Dennis Miller appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart here.

VIDEO: Jon Stewart on Dennis Miller Live 1995
JON STEWART: ... [People] are getting used to it. Rather than the dumbing of America its more the numbing of it. You see so much on television and you see so much comedy or you see so much programs that you are no longer watch it and get stimulated by it like you used to. There's so many channels.

It sort of like we're watching this never ending auto race. You know and we just sit there and its sort of distracting, its sort of pleasant. But you're really just waiting for a car to fly out of control into the grandstand...
VIDEO: Jon Stewart on Dennis Miller Live 1997
JON STEWART: ... I don't think individual bad habits are as destructive as group -- I think the most destructive habit in America is belief. Is Ideology. You know you saw that in that [Heaven's Gate] cult...

People are too weak of mind and they get together and they end up completely -- That's when mass destruction occurs. You never see a group of junkies going out on a Saturday night to beat the sh*t out of gay people. Its always a group wearing the same hat, chanting the same thing. Ideology

DENNIS MILLER: Its tough to sell the pro-junkie statement public
VIDEO: Jon Stewart on Dennis Miller Live 1998
JON STEWART: The tough thing for hypochondriac is have you ever met someone who's really sick. And t'hen you just feel like a giant asshole. Where you're literally saying "I'm a hypochondriac" and I'll meet a guy who has a brain tumor.

Like if the boy next door lived next to 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Where you're like "I'm worried about the wolf. I can't go out of my house" and [she's like] "He ate my grandmother".
VIDEO: Jon Stewart on Dennis Miller Live 2000
JON STEWART: Its just like in Terminator 2, he [Al Gore] touches then he inhabits. He's a bad actor and that's why people are calling him on it cause Clinton's the same actor but he's good at it. He's a good actor...

Clinton's a good actor. Gore's a sh*tty actor so people don't like 'em. Bush - he's just reading the prompter. He doesn't know what the f*ck is going on. Last thing he remembers he was running the Texas Rangers

DENNIS MILLER: (sardonically) Ain't nothing wrong with reading the prompter Johnny
(both comedians burst into laughter)

'Live Audio Wrestling' nominates APF Pundit Dennis Miller as the worst Guest Raw GM'

Guest Raw GM Dennis Miller alongside WWE Chairman Vince McMahon
Friend of show John Pollock recently nominated Dennis Miller as his worst Guest Raw GM for Live Audio Wrestling's "Worst of the Year" show.

For us at the APF it was a memorable moment simply because whilst many wrestlers have appeared on Pundit Programming, this was the first time a pundit had appeared on a Wrestling show.

JOHN POLLOCK: I went with Dennis Miller because going into this I knew there was gonna be problems with it. Dennis Miller is someone at least who is a very good live performer and I have a number of his DVDs and stuff like that. This was a 'RAW' that just completely fell apart and I've never seen an edition of WWE where they've completely acknowledged that this was falling apart. You had [WWE Chairman] Vince come out and literally say "Some hosts are just better than others" while staring at Miller.

His opening monologue was just terrible. You could hear crickets. He comes out "Well we're in hour 18 of tonight's extravaganza". It was just to me a terrible show. The 3 hours dragged. And Dennis Miller - huge thumbs down.

Newest APF member, Introducing Dennis Miller

In anticipation of his eventual GM guest hosting spot on WWE's Raw, I proudly introduce Comedian and Radio Talker Dennis Miller to the 'American Pundit Fighting' roster.

Dennis Miller first made a name for himself as a comedian and SNL cast member, moving on to host popular talks shows on HBO and CNBC. He currently hosts a daily three-hour radio show nationally syndicated by Westwood One, covering culture, current events and politics.

As a talker Dennis is distinctly known for his flowery way of speaking and use of obtuse references, which stylistically is not to dissimilar to fellow comedian (but political opposite) Janeane Garofalo. In recent years much has been made of Miller's "drift" rightwards to conservatism after 9/11.

Dennis Miller address these matters in an illuminating interview for The Politico
The Dennis Miller interview
How would you describe your political beliefs: Republican? Independent? Libertarian?

Well, I’d say it’s eclectic pragmatism at some point. I’m a moderate in some degree because I have wildly swinging opinions but through some sort of ideological feng shui they end up in the middle. Some swing far to the left, others to the far right. I’m for the war, but I’m also for gay marriage. I don’t care if two folks with the same genitalia want to get hitched, I just don’t want some a—hole from another country coming over here and blowing up their wedding to make a political statement.

In just the past few minutes you’ve referenced obscure figures ranging from a '60s-era general to a vintage talking doll. Given your audience on conservative talk radio, are you too hip for the room?

I never signed up for anything called "conservative talk radio." I’m on Westwood One, and my boss Norm Pattiz is a liberal. I’m just on talk radio. I don’t think I’m too hip for the room at all. I’ve got 194 stations after just 16 months, which I’m told is good, and my mind is boggled at just how wise and funny my callers have been. On occasion I’ll get someone who is off the grid and I’ll feel like I’m on the phone with [Ted] Kaczynski, but for the most part it’s a pretty urbane crowd. I don’t think I’m too hip for the room. People always say ‘it’s so eclectic,’ but I’m making references to the Jetsons’ robot maid — not exactly Ted Cooley or Bucky Fuller.

Dennis Miller tells Bill O'Reilly "Joe Biden hallucinates himself"

This blog has always been interested in hyperreality in Politics. The wrestling analogy applied to American Politics and Punditry basically refers to the "constructs" of personalities and storylines found in both. Most recently pundit Glenn Beck described this construct using the science fiction reference of 'The Matrix'.

Dennis Miller in his regular segment on the 'O'Reilly factor' suggests that eccentric VP Joe Biden is so preposterous that he may have manufactured himself into a simulated reality we're all living in.

VIDEO: Dennis Miller unloads on Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden - O'Reilly Factor (May 19, 2009)
DENNIS MILLER: I don't even know if Biden is the Vice President. I think Biden so believes his own crap that we all tend to believe it. I think this is a story he's telling a stranger at a diner where he's the second most powerful man in the country. and he believes it so much that its actually encroached on my life.

I don't even believe he's in the Senate. I don't believe there's a guy named Joe Biden. I think Joe Biden hallucinates himself.
