Dick Cheney weighs in on Rush Limbaugh / Colin Powell feud

Dick Cheney on CBS' 'Face the Nation' weighs in on the brewing feud between Colin Powell and Rush Limbaugh.

VIDEO: Cheney - Republicans better off with Limbaugh than Powell
DICK CHENEY: Well if I had to choose -- in terms of being a Republican I'd go with Rush Limbaugh I think. My take on it was Colin had already left the party...
With Republicans in disarray, moderate conservatives have made headlines by imploring the GOP to acknowledge the "shift" in the country and sideline controversial spokespeople like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.

Like Meghan McCain before him, Colin Powell has made news for his comments regarding the detrimental consequences of the GOP aligning with the influential talker
Powell: GOP 'polarization' backfired in election
"I think the party has to stop shouting at the world and at the country, "Powell said. "I think that the party has to take a hard look at itself, and I've talked to a number of leaders in recent weeks and they understand that." Powell, who says he still considers himself a Republican, said his party should also stop listening to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
Rush Limbaugh spends little time rebutting Powell, simply attributing race as the main driver for Colin's support of Obama
Why Colin Powell is Mad at Me
What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat, instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party. He's not. He's a full-fledged Democrat. The only reason to endorse Obama is race. I don't think Powell thinks he could get away with not endorsing Obama because the Republicans nominated the exact candidate that had the exact campaign, other than Sarah Palin, that Colin Powell advocated.
Update:
Rush expands on his "kerfuffle " with Colin Powell alluding that this feud has been brewing for 15 years

That's what this really is about. This goes back decades, year ago, 14 years ago, 15 years ago. I finally said, "Look, what we all know is when he takes a position on something..." You can't run for office without taking a position on abortion for example. Once he takes a position on that, that approval number is going to go from 70 to 40, or 70 to 50, he's gonna... At some point he's going to lose support based on issues. So when's he going to take a stand? I kept saying, "What do you believe?... I think it's kind of important." Well, at this time everybody else was fawning and dropping to their knees. He was almost the precursor to Obama. He was being treated exactly like Obama back then.

Well, it is a good thing his opinions no longer count.
